CampusGigabytGirl has been designed within the framework of an action to carry out awareness campaigns aimed at secondary school female students focused on fighting fighting gender stereotypes when it comes to choosing university studies included in the University of Alicante's 2nd Plan for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men.
Turning the world of computers and information technologies into a forward-looking project for women is the goal of GigabytGirl, a pioneer experience inspired by similar campaigns carried out by technology giants like Google or Microsoft and now carried out in Spanish universities that was launched in the week between 15 to 19 June where a total of 20 secondary school female students participate in this event organised by the Polytechnic School and the Gender Equality Unit.
This first action includes a number of recreational proposals such as workshops in robotics and multimedia with modelling and computing animation and learning how to develop mobile applications using games.
