Natália Bebiano is full professor at Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Her scientific interests are in the areas of Theory of Matrices and Operators on Hilbert and Krein spaces; Theory of Numerical Ranges of Linear Operators; Theory of Permanents and Generalized Matrix Functions; Matrix and Operator Inequalities; Numerical Linear Algebra; Spectral Operator theory; Entropy and Graphs.

She authored more than 100 research articles published in several scientific journals, such as Linear Algebra and its Applications, Linear and Multilinear Algebra, Numerical Linear Algebra, Inverse Problems, Pacific Journal Of Mathematics, Journal of Mathematical Physics, etc.

She is author of books of Mathematics, History of Mathematics and Popularization.

She was president of the Portuguese Mathematical Society.

She has supervised 7 PhD Thesis and more than 30 MsD Thesis.

 

Christian Mehl received the Diplom in Mathematics from the University of Bielefeld in 1995 and the Ph.D. in Mathematics from the TU Chemnitz in 1998. Since then he has held various positions: College of William and Mary (1999-2000), TU Chemnitz (2000), TU Berlin (2000-2004), TU Chemnitz (2004-2005), TU Berlin (2004-2007), University of Birmingham (2007-2009), and since 2009 he is associate professor at TU Berlin.

He has served as editor for EMIS, the Internet Information Service of the European Mathematical Society EMS (1999-2008), and associate editor for Linear Algebra and its Applications (since 2007), Linear and Multilinear Algebra (2009-2016), and Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra (2011-2016).

From 2010 until 2013 he has been Member of the Board of Directors of the International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS).

His current research interests are in Applied and Numerical Linear Algebra, in particular eigenvalue problems with symmetry structured, indefinite inner products, and perturbation theory.

 

Beatrice Meini received the doctoral degree in Mathematics in 1997, from the University of Pisa, and she is currently full professor of numerical analysis at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Pisa.

From 2011 to 2013 she has been a member of the ILAS advisory committee and since 2015 till 2017 she is a member of the ILAS board of directors.

She is a member of the editorial boards of the journals SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, Linear Algebra and its Applications, Linear and Multilinear Algebra, and of Stochastic Models.

Her research activity concerns the analysis and synthesis of numerical algorithms for the solution of linear algebra problems, with particular interest to structured linear systems, nonlinear matrix equations, matrix functions, (matrix) polynomial factorization, numerical solution of Markov chains. She is coauthor of two research monographs, one on the numerical solution of structured Markov chains and one on the numerical solution of algebraic Riccati equations.

 

Joachim Rosenthal received the Diplom in Mathematics from the University of Basel in 1986 and the Ph.D. in Mathematics from Arizona State University in 1990.

Since 2004 he has been Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Zürich where he currently also serves as Vice-Dean of the College of Science, a college consisting of 170 professors and about 1000 employees.

From 1990 until 2006 he has been with the University of Notre Dame, USA, where he has last been the holder of an endowed chair in Applied Mathematics and he was also Concurrent Professor for Electrical Engineering.

His current research interests are in coding theory and cryptography.

He has served as organizer or program chair for numerous international conferences. For the last 10 years he has been a moderator for arXiv for the area of informationa theory. He currently serves as Corresponding Editor for SIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry (SIAGA) and as Associate Editor for Journal of Algebra and its Applications (JAA) and Advances in Mathematics of Communications (AMC).
