DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The growth of University programmes for over 55 years of age represents a breakthrough in this field but involves multiple challenges. Dispersion, variety, approach, structure, financing, organization, as well as the evolution experienced by all programs, endorse this preparatory action, which guides its efforts to promote integrated action of institution-building with an academic network of international cooperation, development, research and education for older students. The network of universities and researchers in the field of lifelong learning and cooperation, would lead to an Alliance of research groups in Spain and Latin America with a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary. It was conceived as a reference académico-científico, able to coordinate not only to the University community, but also to social actors and institutional stakeholders in this area. It would establish a platform for dissemination and information, generating knowledge on cooperation in research and education for older students, in order to share and transfer the results to national and international cooperation agencies and the responsible entities in each country of the policies and programmes for lifelong learning.
The preparatory action therefore has a role in the long term, which now focuses on the realization of Ibero-American of University management workshops and activities for the exchange of good practices and cooperation to development in the continuing education of older persons as a mechanism for social inclusion and combating poverty.
