IAU / IAG Joint Working Group on Theory of Earth Rotation and Validation

The purpose of the International Astronomical Union / International Association of Geodesy (IAU/IAG) Joint Working Group on Theory of Earth Rotation and Validation (JWG TERV) is to promote the development of theories of Earth rotation that are fully consistent and that agree with observations and provide predictions of the Earth orientation parameters (EOPs) with the accuracy required to meet the needs of the near future as recommended by, for example, IAG’s Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS).

This JWG continuous the former IAU/IAG Joint Working Group on Theory of Earth Rotation (JWG_ThER) that operated in the period 2013-2015 with the same purpose.

Since the initial stage the JWG activity has been understood on an open basis, welcoming the co-operation of non-members.
