SPORTS, LEISURE AND RECREATION IN THE UNITED STATES AND SPAIN

Aquest curs totalment impartit en anglès, se centra en l'esport i la indústria de l'oci a Estats Units i Espanya. Els estudiants experimentaran de primera mà la riquesa de la cultura espanyola. Les classes seran dinàmiques i tots els estudiants, dividits en grup, hauran d'interactuar i treballar junts. Estan previstes diverses activitats esportives a l'aire lliure i s'organitzaran excursions a municipis d'interès cultural de la província d'Alacant. Estudiants procedents d'Illinois, Alacant i d'altres països europeus participaran en aquest programa internacional co-organitzat amb la Western Illinois University. Les classes comptaran amb la participació de professors americans i de la UA.

A. Sports, Leisure and Recreation in Spain

OBJECTIVES:

Students will learn about the sports, leisure and recreation activities in Spain with special mention to the public sector, people with disabilities and health promotion.

CONTENT:

This will include classroom activities, and practical sessions and field trips. The classroom activities will provide an understanding of the structure of the sports, leisure and recreation field in Spain with special attention to the public sector, sports and recreation leadership and professional opportunities in the field in Spain.

Classroom activities:

o Structure and organization of the sports, leisure and recreation field in Spain (Topic 1)

o The provision of sports, leisure and recreation opportunities in the public sector in the Spain (Topic 2)

o The provision of sports, leisure and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities in Spain (Topic 3)

o Physical activity and recreation across the lifespan in Spain. The relationship between recreation and health. (Topic 4)

 

B. Sports, Leisure and Recreation in the United States

OBJECTIVES:

Students will learn about sports, leisure and recreation in the United States and about their challenging and competitive culture which encourages people to go %u2018above and beyond'.

CONTENT:

Classroom activities:

o Structure and organization of the sports, leisure and recreation field in the United States

o The provision of sports, leisure and recreation opportunities in the public sector in the United States

o The provision of sports, leisure and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities in the United States

o Physical activity and recreation across the lifespan in the United States. The relationship between recreation and health.

o Professional career opportunities in the United States.

 

Evaluation

Students are required to attend all classes and outdoor activities. Besides, they will work in groups. Class participation and presentations will be included as part of the evaluation.
